What a difference 5 years can make when you make a conscious effort to improve...
It’s amazing that the world of Destiny still manages to inspire me to create. It did way back when the series first came out up to today. This post isn’t about that though. It’s about the journey I’ve taken to get to the point where I’m at when it comes to my art. Sometimes it looks like I’ve hit a plateau and no longer making any headway. Then I look at some of my past stuff and its hard to believe that I drew that. Seriously, looking at the image above is staggering for me.
And that’s what this post is about. It’s about continuing to work and improve at the things you love. It’s doesn’t have to be drawing. Whatever passion fuels you I want you to know that you will get better at it the more you do it. It’s so easy to get discouraged; trust me I know. If you’re reading this right now, keep going at it, whatever it is. If you’re not sure what your passions are, that’s okay too! The act of searching and finding what drives you is a rewarding one. Human beings are filled with such creativity. Even when someone tells me, “I’m not creative,” I tell them the opposite. Just because you haven’t found your thing yet doesn’t mean you don’t have one.
I don’t want to sound too preachy on this topic (too late). I just want people out there to know they are good enough to accomplish anything they set their mind to. Passion is just being okay with failing at something. It is picking yourself up from that failure and continuing that makes you better. No one picks up a violin for the first time with no background in music and suddenly plays Mozart. It’s a journey of a thousand miles. Anyway, I’ll let you go about your day. I hope what I said resonates somewhere.
Whatever it is, keep at it. I believe in you.
