June 18th: Belle

Going along with my theme of being more transparent with my process, I drew this little piece today. Once again I think it comes down to how the mouth looks. I think the lips actually shows some emotion. It actually look like its curved into a smile versus just tilting the lips which is what I was doing before.

This is the first portrait I've done freehand that wasn't first a J Scott Campbell drawing. This is actually from a photo portrait of Emma Watson. I think it turned out really pretty good. Well, it doesn't look like Emma, but I think the drawing stands well on its own.

I also tried something a little different with the shading. I've mostly used a shading graphite tool to do my shading. This time around I tried cross hatching. I think thats what its called. It made making shape with shading a little bit more deliberate.
