A little bit more site maintenance.

So I’m doing some minor tweaks here and there to try to make my site a little bit more streamlined and ready for consumption. I have rearranged my art page to have my most recent stuff up top in their completed form to showcase. Some of the art on the Home page has been updated with a new slideshow of images and I have messed around with the borders of each art piece to make it feel less artificial. It’s what I can do given the tools I use. I hope that the website is easy to navigate and looking a little bit more slick. It was a little bit of work getting the art on the home page to look somewhat how I wanted it.

Practicing Color

There have been a few different things when it comes to coloring my art. Up until this point my coloring was a bit flat. I have been trying a couple of grayscale techniques to see if my results are a little less solid colors. I have been somewhat happy with the results, but there are a lot of different things to try. It’s also making me think critically about my blending modes for layers. Layers are something within digital art that allows you to draw one various transparent levels for the purpose of being able to draw and erase, but not affect anything else on the other layers. It’s kind of like transparencies on an over-head projector if you’re old enough to remember those bad boys. The blending modes are how all of these layers interact with each other. I think the results are getting better.

This drawing to the right is using greyscale for the different shades. Then I add a color to the drawing and that color suddenly has different hues based on casted light. My blending leads something to be desired at the moment, but I am happy with my current results. I look forward to further experimentation and I cant wait to share it here.
